Cross-Box Training News Letter

May 24, 2008

On Saturday May 17th 2008, Cross-Box Training held it’s first Certification Workshop exclusively for Personal Trainers and Group Exercise Instructors, at The Sporting Club, in La Jolla California. Those in attendance were the first to experience what Cross-Box Training is all about.

The workshop began with a brief introduction and testimony from Sharon Spooler, a business consultant, professional life coach, and personal client of mine. Following Mrs. Spooler was, Paul David, the Fitness, Pilates, and Nutritional manager at The Sporting Club, who also is an Advisory Board Member to Cross-Box Training. Mr. David explained about how he believed Cross-Box Training would be a great new training method to add to everything else that trainers and fitness instructors were already using. After Mr. David’s presentation, I stepped in and gave about a forty-five minute presentation. I began by giving the candidates some insight into the world of Cross-Box Training. From there I spoke about the Mixed Martial Arts industry, and the Fitness industry, and how I believed Cross-Box Training was the bridge to fill the gap between the two industries. It was very important that every candidate understood how Cross-Box Training was the developed, who  it was developed for, and how to properly us it as a training method, or tool, with their clients.

Once the presentation part of the workshop was through, I knew that the though the candidates interest had grown, that there was still some questions as to how to use Cross-Box Training for themselves.

After a short break, we took the candidates through a five hour instructional, and intense course into the world of Cross-Box Training.

All the trainers came into the workshop with little to know experience with boxing, or how they could even use it as a training method. However, it didn’t take long before everyone’s lack of understanding turned into, excitement, and enthusiasm. It was a beautiful thing to witness what was happening as the workshop went on. The candidates were pumped up and eager to do more. Even after four hours of doing technique after technique, drills, and combinations, there was no sign of letting up. Everyone’s energy was high during the entire workshop. They were soaking it all in!

Once every candidate demonstrated that they had a clear understanding and working knowledge of all the techniques, drills, and combinations, and could perform what they learned in a safe and productive manner, we then paired them up and had them take each other through the same drills and combinations.

When it was all said and done, every trainer demonstrated that they knew how to teach and incorporate Cross-Box Training when working with the other trainers. The skill, and confidence of all the candidates had taken over. They were all ready to begin using Cross-Box Training with their own clients.

It was very clear to myself and my staff, that Cross-Box Training would have a place in the fitness industry, and was well on it’s way to becoming a viable training method that could stand on it’s own along side all other training programs.

I am very excited about the future of Cross-Box Training, and how it can play a role in the fitness industry. I’ve been using boxing and kickboxing with most of my own clients for years. I always felt if I could develop a program on how to teach other trainers to do the same, that I could have done something very special by merging boxing and kickboxing training methods with the fitness industry. Based on the responses we received during, and after the workshop, we believe strongly that Cross-Box Training will become a much sought after training method and certification program throughout the fitness industry.

On behalf of our sponsors, advisors, staff, instructors, and my self, we would like to give a heartfelt Thank You to those who attended our Cross-Box Training Certification workshop, and we look forward to working with you again soon.

Sincerely,
