Making a fist correctly is essential to staying injury free when boxing. Heres a quick tutorial: 1. Start with an open hand... 2. Fold your fingers tightly leaving your thumb open.
3. Now close your thumb firmly over your forefinger and middle finger. Thats it!
HAND & WRIST STRENGTH TESTGet in a knuckle push-up position and hold for 10-20 seconds. Make sure you have a tight fist and you are only on the II & III Metacarpals (forefinger & middle finger) knuckles. If you or your client are unable to hold in this position without rolling onto the IV & V Metacarpals (ring & small finger) then you may need to do some muscle strengthening and joint integrity exercises before you are ready to punch.
